Golden Jubilee Year Celebration of DDS KVK, Zaheerabad

On June 1st, 2024, DDS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Zaheerabad celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year with great enthusiasm and pride. The event, graced by esteemed guests and dignitaries, highlighted the pivotal role of KVKs in transforming farm-level practices and supporting agricultural advancements. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Aravind Kumar, Principal Scientist from IIRR, Hyderabad. The guest of honour was Mrs. Praveena, Mandal Agriculture Officer, Zaheerabad, Sangareddy. Other distinguished guests include Senior Seed Keeper of DDS, Mrs. Chandramma and All India Millet Sister Network President, Mrs. Mogulammma.

The event commenced with a symbolic torch rally, commemorating 50 years of KVK excellence, led by Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. C. Vara Prasad, accompanied by staff and local farmers. This torch, marking the Golden Jubilee, symbolized the enduring commitment of DDS KVK to agricultural progress.

Key Activities and Highlights:

- Training program on organic inputs preparation: As part of the event, a training program focused on organic inputs preparation was organized. Timed to coincide with the beginning of the Kharif season, this program equipped attending farmers with essential knowledge and skills for sustainable agricultural practices.

- Literature release: The event saw the release and distribution of extension literature, including newsletter (January – April), DDS KVK brochures, and technology leaflets.

- Inauguration of shade net demonstration unit: A demonstration unit on shade net technology within the KVK premises was inaugurated by the guests. This initiative aims to showcase modern agricultural techniques to local farmers, enhancing their understanding and adoption of innovative practices.

During the event, speakers emphasized DDS KVK's continuous efforts in keeping farmers updated with agricultural technologies. They encouraged farmers to leverage the resources and expertise offered by KVKs to enhance productivity and sustainability in farming practices. Overall, the Golden Jubilee celebration of DDS KVK in Zaheerabad was a testament to its pivotal role in agricultural transformation, reflecting its commitment to serving the farming community and advancing agricultural excellence. Contact farmers expressed that they became more proficient in soil health management, water conservation, and the use of organic fertilizers, resulting in a more sustainable approach to farming.
