About Deccan Developments Society
The Deccan Development Society works in the Zaheerabad region of India with Dalit and tribal women to develop climate-smart agricultural practices, securing community nutrition, health, and livelihoods. Over 40 years, they have been helping 5000 women reclaim farmlands, generating one million days of employment in 30 villages.

To address poor soil and water quality, the society has empowered women to form groups focusing on seeds, food, farming, health, market, and media. They've established a seed bank, millet processing unit, sales outlets, and restaurants, creating a supportive network for women entrepreneurs. Today, 5,000+ women practice millet-based farming, combating malnutrition, food insecurity, and poverty in the region. It is to strengthen this approach that the DDS negotiated with ICAR in 1991 for KVK and got one sanctioned.
DDS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (DDS KVK), located in Didgi Village near Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district, Telangana, is a pioneering agricultural extension center dedicated to promoting sustainable and organic farming practices.
